Swiss soprano Sabine Wüthrich studied at the Conservatory of Berne with Elisabeth Glauser. In 1999 she came to the Netherlands to continue her studies with Udo Reinemann and Margreet Honig at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. She has also studied opera at the "New Opera Academy" of Amsterdam.
Sabine participated in masterclasses with Dawn Upshaw, Christina Deutekom, Jard van Nes, Rudolf Jansen, Graham Clark, Dale Duesing and Edith Wiens.
During her studies Sabine was awarded the prestigious Swiss scholarship from the Kiefer Hablitzel Stiftung three times.
In february 2007 Sabine won the the first prize of the Vocalists Presentation, the so called Jo Bollekamp prize for the most promising young soloist in the Netherlands.
Most recently in July 2008 she won the first prize at the Concorso Internazionale di Canto Solistico in Gorizia, Italy. In this competition Sabine also won the prize for best Lied performance.
As a soloist Sabine has worked with conductors such as Paul McCreesh, Daniel Klajner, Lucas Vis, Arie van Beek, Martien van Woerkum, Henrik Schaefer, Etienne Siebens, Patrick Flynn, Otto Tausk and Reinbert de Leeuw.
She performed with the Berne Symphony Orchestra, Holland Symfonia, the Doelen Ensemble, with the Orchestre des Heures Romantiques, with the Ensemble Nieuwe Muziek, with Musica Brabantiae and with the National Youth Orchestra NJO.
Sabine's repertoire includes: Bach (St.John's passion, St. Matthew's passion, Christmas Oratorio), Händel (Messiah), Mozart (Requiem, Litanae di Dominica, Litanae di Sacramento, Exultate Jubilate), Haydn (Creation, Seasons), Vivaldi (Gloria) as well as many contempory composers as Gubaidulina (Hommage à T.S. Elliott) and Schnittke (Three Madrigals).
With the baroque ensemble PhoenixRising Sabine has appeared on several early music festivals in England such as the Norwich & Norfolk Festival, the Cambridge Early Music Series and the Stratford-upon-Avon-Festival.
Sabine has also a big interest for contempory repertoire. Dutch composers Daan Manneke, Willem Wander van Nieuwkerk and Jan van de Putte especially wrote pieces for her. In 2006 she worked in masterclasses and workshops with composer Sofia Gubaidulina and performed many of her chambermusic pieces. She has been invited to perform at the Autumn Festival for new Music in Tallinn, Estonia.
Besides her solo-career Sabine loves to make chamber music. With her Trio Amare (with clarinetist Céleste Zewald and pianist Daniel Kramer) she has given concerts throughout the Nederlands, France and Switzerland.
